Elliott L. Bloom - In Memoriam

  Founder and Former President

Elliott L. Bloom - Founder and Former President of Elliot Galleries       Elliott L. Bloom (1930-2011) was the founder and owner of Elliott Galleries. He worked as an antiques dealer in the art and antique trade in the New York City area for over 55 years. A generalist typical of his generation, he bought and sold estates. Well-known in the antiques world and a well-regarded figure in the Lenox Hill neighborhood of Manhattan, he is affectionately remembered by neighbors as the mayor of 79th Street. He started in the profession by working as an antique dealer in Brooklyn, New York, where he still owns stores and warehouses in the Ditmas Park area of Brooklyn, N.Y. In 1979 he relocated the business to Manhattan at its former address, 155 East 79th Street, where it occupied the building of the former Schrafft's restaurant. Elliott L. Bloom passed away on May 23, 2011 from complications of Parkinson's disease.
